What are the instructions for participants while they are being monitored?

During waking hours, please advise participants to:

  • Wear the CoughMonitor on their wrist consistently throughout the day
  • Avoid covering the CoughMonitor with heavy clothing
  • Ensure the CoughMonitor is charged enough
    • In case the CoughMonitor's battery becomes fully depleted, the device powers of and disconnects from the Companion App
    • The participant will need to charge the CoughMonitor and then reconnect it to the Companion App (ensure Bluetooth is enabled on the phone, open the Companion App, and then the CoughMonitor will start monitoring again; if CoughMonitor shows "Disconnected", tap the "Try Again" button)

During sleeping hours, please advise participants to:

  • Use the charger cable provided to connect the CoughMonitor to the USB charger
    • Double-check that the USB charging cable is securely connected to the CoughMonitor (when the magnetic contacts engage between the CoughMonitor and charger, participants will know that a secure connection has been made)
    • While charging, ensure the CoughMonitor remains within three feet (one meter) from the mouth (charge at bedside)

Precautions:

  • Protect the CoughMonitor form excessive water exposure
    • The CoughMonitor is water resistant and can be worn while showering or bathing, however, you should not submerge it in water for longer than 30 minutes or deeper than 3 feet
  • Do not move the CoughMonitor while it is charging
  • For best performance, ensure the CoughMonitor is not covered or rubbed by clothing, which may interfere with the recording
